For older iPhone, iPad, and MacBook models, Apple has started releasing iOS, iPadOS, and macOS updates. For users whose devices are ineligible for Apple's most recent iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3, and macOS Ventura updates for iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, which were widely released on a stable channel recently, the updates address some critical security issues that needed immediate fixes. According to the company, the most recent software updates for older Apple devices have fixed a total of 14 different serious security and system flaws.

There are a total of five software updates for older Apple products that have been provided by the Cupertino, California-based tech firm. This includes macOS Big Sur 11.7.3, macOS Monterey 12.6.3, iPadOS 15.7.3, iOS 12.5.7, and iOS 15.7.3.

Apple's most recent iOS 16.3 update is not compatible with iPhone models older than the iPhone 8, making them extremely vulnerable to security risks. Apple stated in its security bulletin that iOS 12.5.7 and iPadOS 12.5.7 fix these problems on the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and iPod touch (6th generation) devices. The critical WebKit Bugzilla vulnerability, with tracking number CVE-2022-42856, was discovered by Clément Lecigne of Google's Threat Analysis Group, and it is fixed in the iOS update for older devices. Malicious phishing attackers were taking advantage of the flaw to remotely access devices, execute unwanted commands or code, or instal spyware or other types of malware.

The most recent OS upgrades for macOS also fix issues with AppleMobileFileIntegrity, curl, dcerpc, DiskArbitration, DriverKit, Intel Graphics Driver, PackageKit, Kernel, Mail Exchange, Maps, Screen Time, Weather, WebKit, and Windows Installer that were related to WebKit misunderstanding.

Users are encouraged to update their devices as soon as possible due to such serious vulnerabilities in order to safeguard themselves from malicious assaults. It is recommended that users of the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPod touch (6th generation), or devices running macOS Monterey or macOS Big Sur get the most recent security upgrades by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
